2    The Air Weather Servioe is the only af;enoy of  lto type that
has been asked to assist in this accomplishment of Projeot "SIGN" except
that the United States Y7eathe|r Bureau has provided  information on ball
llfjhtnlng.    Research projects  in which balloons are used and whioh are
oonduoted or sponsored by the Army, Havy or United States Air Force are
oheotosd by the Intelligence Department of this Command.    These oheoics
areusually made direct from the Projeot "SIGH*1 Office, UCIAXO-3..   These
oheoics are distinqt from the  check of synoptic balloon flights made by
weather service  stations of the Air Force, the  Kavy and the  Department
of Commerce.     (U. S..Weather Bureau) requested of Air Tfeather Servioe.
3.     It is  the opinion of this off ice. that, the below listed inoi-
dents are those having the greatest possibility of being balloons.    This
list does not eliminate the possibility that many of the remaining
