TEHERAN, Oct. 15, (Reuters) A huge, shining rocket-like objeot was sighted over
three towns in NW Iran last weekend, reports reaching here said today.
The object was reported to have been Been traveling at high speed toward the NE.
The reports said it blew up just west of Hamadan, about halfway between Tehran and
the Iraqi border.                                                                                           ;
Iran borders on Russia, but the reports gave no indication that the-object came
from there.                                                                                                                                         ,
An Iranian official said that Army .units may be sent into the region in an effort
to find fragments of the reported missile in an attempt to trace its origin.
One of the reports said the object had a brilliant head like an huge electric
li;ht bulb.and a curving tail of flame and smoke.
